A Thai woman shocked workers at a Buddhist temple when they discovered she was moving inside her coffin, which had been brought for her cremation. Wat Rat Prakong Tam temple in Nonthaburi province, on the outskirts of Bangkok, posted a video on its Facebook page showing the woman lying in a white coffin in the back of a pickup truck, slightly moving her arms and head, which amazed the temple staff. Berat Sudthop, the temple's public relations and finance manager, told the Associated Press on Monday that the woman's 65-year-old-old brother had brought her by car from Phitsanulok province for the cremation. "It seems she had been knocking for a long time," he said. According to Berat, the brother said his sister had been bedridden for nearly two years, her health had deteriorated, and she had stopped responding, appearing to have stopped breathing two days prior. They heard light knocking coming from inside the coffin. "I was a little surprised, so I asked them to open the coffin, and everyone was astonished. I saw her slightly open her eyes and knock on the side of the coffin," he added. The brother then placed the woman in the coffin and drove 500 kilometers to a hospital in Bangkok, where the woman had previously expressed a desire to donate her organs. However, the hospital refused the brother's offer due to the lack of an official death certificate. The Wat Rat Prakong Tam temple offers free cremation services, which is why the brother went there on Sunday, but he was also turned away for the same reason. While Berat was explaining to the brother how to obtain a death certificate, they heard knocking from inside the coffin again. They then assessed the woman's condition and sent her to a nearby hospital. Berat also said the abbot of the temple announced that the temple would cover all of the woman's medical expenses.
