Italian Aprilia Racing rider Marco Bezzecchi set the pace at the start of the Thai Grand Prix, making a strong first statement of the MotoGP season. Bezzecchi dominated throughout the Friday session at the Chang International Circuit and ended the practice with a record lap time, confirming the high expectations for his performance. The official Aprilia Racing rider recorded a time of 1m28.526s, enough to beat the reigning world champion Marc Márquez by 0.421 seconds and lead the combined classification of the day. Bezzecchi had already been the fastest in the first practice, which consolidated his strong performance from the start of the weekend. The other side of the day was seen in the Ducati garage, as Francesco Bagnaia failed to enter the top 10 and missed direct access to Q2, repeating similar difficulties to several Fridays from the previous season. Unstable weather conditions provided a mitigating factor: threatening clouds and a few drops created constant uncertainty during the 60-minute session. The weather altered tire strategies and programs as several riders repeatedly went out on track, fearing they would miss out on a final fast lap in dry conditions. Although wet patches appeared, the rain never intensified, and the final attacks ended up defining the classification. In this context, Ai Ogura capitalized on an early reference to secure his way to Q2 despite a crash at the end.
