Thailand confirmed on Saturday that it will continue its military operations against Cambodia, despite US President Donald Trump's announcement that the two countries had reached an agreement to cease hostilities after he spoke with them by phone. Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha stated: "Thailand will continue its military operations until we eliminate any harm or threat to our land and our people." He added: "Our actions this morning were sufficient to express our position." Thai military authorities confirmed that they had struck Cambodian targets early Saturday. Meanwhile, Cambodia's Ministry of Defense via the X platform stated that "The Royal Thai Air Force used two F-16 fighter jets to drop seven bombs" on several targets. Following initial violence in July, border clashes between the two ASEAN member countries have resulted in at least 20 deaths and forced hundreds of thousands of people to flee in both directions. The announcement to continue military operations came just hours after Donald Trump confirmed that Bangkok and Phnom Penh, which have been disputing land for decades, had agreed to a ceasefire. The Joint Information Center in Bangkok reported that Thai forces "responded" to Cambodian military targets in the early morning.
